Just ahead of the US midterm elections, please join us for a wide-ranging discussion, featuring both Penn faculty and guest speakers, focused on the mathematical foundations of democracy, from districting and electoral maps to voting itself. This will be the first in a series of forums to be held in 2026–27 and 2027–28 designed to demonstrate the contributions of different core areas of Arts and Sciences to the understanding and the potential strengthening of democratic practices.
Speakers will include Daniel Wodak (Philosophy, Penn); Dan Hopkins (Political Science, Penn); and Ismar Volić (Mathematics, Wellsley), among others.
